The National Funeral Directors & Morticians Association, Inc. announces the transition of Mrs. Brenda Fay Thompson Williamson, Mother of Association Member, Tracey W. Alston.

The National Funeral Directors & Morticians Association, Inc. sincerely sympathizes with the Williamson Family. May God continue to watch over you all. We give you this one thought to keep, "Although it's difficult today to see beyond sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow."

A journey is defined as traveling from one place to another, and it usually refers to a long-distance or a significant trip. However, some may say that a journey is your experience between the sunrise and sunset of your life on this side of Heaven.

The journey of Brenda Thompson Williamson, “Blenda” to her mama and “Sister” to her brother began on April 19, 1947. She was born in the Mebane Clinic in Mebane, NC, this is where Mildred Holt Thompson and John Spencer Thompson welcomed her into this world. After starting on her journey, Brenda quickly began to experience the joys of life as she followed her “papa” Gus Holt like a shadow. Her childhood was filled with joy, laughter, love, and yes, even heartbreaks. Brenda found pleasure in the simple things in life. She was a great softball player and dancer. In her youth, she won many dance contests with her brother James Junior “Trouble” Thompson as her partner.

Later in her journey, she had an encounter with Jerry Ronald Williamson who would eventually become her loving husband and father to her children. Having only one sibling fueled her desire for a large family. So ten years later, after leaving Mebane and moving to Burlington, this union was blessed with not one but four daughters. The journey that Brenda experienced was enriched with her faith in God, knowing that without him she would be nothing. This belief was instilled in her daughters, making not only Brenda a strong woman, but her girls as well. She loved to worship wherever the spirit of the living God was present. Either working her favorite job at Sharpe Funeral Home or spending quality time with her family, especially those “grand youngings” as she would say.

The journey of Brenda Fay Thompson Williamson lasted for 79 years on this side of Heaven, but will be remembered forever as the best wife, to Jerry R. Williamson, mama to Tracey (Rev. Alvis) Alston, Therese (Deacon Rodney) Whitsett, Tessa Williamson and Tapreine (Bernard) Walker; and Nana to Anthony (Heather) Long, Isaiah Alston, Caleb Alston, Dorian Hankins, Gabrielle Whitsett, Evean Williamson, Levi Long, and grand-dog “DJ”.

Like all journeys, they must come to an end. But we have faith that those we loved along the way and those that showed us the way will once again come our way when we cross over to our reward. So Brenda, tell Mama Mildred and Granddaddy “Scrooge”, Papa Gus, Uncle “Trouble”, cousin “Buttercup”, Uncle Jackie and the rest of the Mebane crew we said hello. We know they’ll take care of you until we too must come to the end of our journeys.
