Clara Bryant Jones of Raleigh, North Carolina departed this earthly existence on Thursday May 21, 2026.
Clara Louise Bryant Jones was born February 28, 1923, in Clayton, North Carolina. Clara graduated from Clayton High School. She married Malachi Jones, Sr., and they welcomed eleven children into their union (seven boys and four girls). Clara's husband died when their youngest child was an infant, and she raised all eleven children as a single mother. Clara was preceded in death by her husband Malachi Jones, Sr. and five sons: Marvin Jones, Gregory Jones, Timothy Jones, Sr., Malachi Jones, Jr. and Columbus Quincy Jones. One granddaughter: April Jones Brown. Two great grandsons: Jeffrie Jones, Jr. and Anthony Sutton. Her parents Mazie Watson Bryant and Columbus Bryant. Three Sisters: Sara Merritt (Tom), Cleo Bunn (Willie), and Garnell Bryant. Five brothers: Elbert Bryant, James Bryant (Marie), Joe Bryant, Howard Bryant, Bobby Bryant, and her best friend Carrie Sanders. Clara is survived by her four daughters: Helen Jones Daniels, Marcia Jones Jefferys, Nina Jones, and Beverly Jones Craven. Two sons: James Jones and Calvin Jones (Theresa). Daughter-in-Law: Beverly Williams Jones. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and 24 great-great grandchildren. One brother: Roy Bryant (Mary). Three sisters-in-law: Sylvia Jones Bradsher, Ariene Jones, and June Jones Sanders, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great/great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Clara loved her family deeply, and she was well loved by so many.
