With deep sorrow, the National Funeral Directors & Morticians Association, Inc. announces the transition of Former Association Board Member, Mr. Daniel "Dan" Harrison, Jr., Companion of Association Member, Talitha Thomas, CFSP, CFSGM.
The National Funeral Directors & Morticians Association, Inc. sincerely sympathizes with the Harrison Family. May God continue to watch over you all. We give you this one thought to keep, "Although it's difficult today to see beyond sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow."
Daniel Harrison, affectionately known as Dan, born August 5, 1945, lived a life defined by service, compassion, and genuine human connection. He proudly served as a police officer and later as a civilian employee with the Department of the Interior, reflecting a lifelong commitment to public service. While those roles were important to him, his greatest passion was his calling as a funeral director. In that work, Dan found true purpose—caring for families during their most difficult moments with dignity, patience, and quiet strength. To him, it was more than a profession; it was a ministry.
Dan truly never met a stranger. His humble and compassionate spirit put people at ease, and his ability to connect with others was his superpower. He was generous with his time, sincere in his desire to help, and intentional in how he showed up for people. He will be remembered not only for what he did, but for how he made others feel —seen, supported, and valued.
At the center of Dan’s life was his family. He was a devoted father to his sons, Zach and Micah, and a proud grandfather to his cherished grandson, Logan. He shared a loving companionship with Talitha Thomas and was preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than 40 years, Myra, with whom he built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Daniel Harrison passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, following complications from a stroke. Though his absence is deeply felt, his legacy of love, service, and compassion will continue to live on in the many lives he touched.
