July 11, 1971 — April 2, 2026

Houston, Texas

The National Funeral Directors & Morticians Association, Inc. announces the transition of Mr. Joe Clinton Dickerson, Jr., nephew of Mr. Troy B. Smith.

The National Funeral Directors & Morticians Association, Inc. sincerely sympathizes with the Dickerson Family. May God continue to watch over you all. We give you this one thought to keep, "Although it's difficult today to see beyond sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow."

On July 11, 1971, a son, Joe Clinton Dickerson, Jr. was born to the late Joe and Joyce Dickerson in Houston, Texas.

He confessed Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and was baptized at East Macedonia Baptist Church. He attended public school in Missouri City, Texas and graduated from Willowridge High School in 1989. Joe entered Houston Fire Academy April 2, 1990. On February 22, 2019, he retired from Houston Fire Department after 29 years of service. He also worked and retired from United Airlines.

Joe had a passion for fishing, hunting, traveling and his three sons, Landon, Joe III, and Nicholas. He had a black belt in taekwondo as well as he played the saxophone. Joe was an avid traveler who traveled to places such as Dubai, Curacao, Costa Rica, Panama, Cayman Islands, and other countries. If he had one flaw, it was not celebrating himself. He did not like celebrating himself but loved to celebrate others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Joyce Dickerson.

He leaves to cherish his love and legacy to: three sons, Landon Joseph Dickerson (Erika), Joe Clinton Dickerson III and Nicholas Joseph Dickerson; two grandchildren, Landon Dickerson Jr. and Skylar Dickerson; one sister, Tina Dickerson Parker (Marcus); one nephew, Marcus Parker Jr. and an array of uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives and friends.
