The city of Las Vegas and supporters across the world mourn the loss of professional singer and songwriter Tymara “Songbyrd” Walker.

Las Vegas, NV — The family of Tymara “Songbyrd” Walker, along with Songbird Productions, is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Tymara, a beloved mother, sister, and daughter. She was 47 years old.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, and raised in Toledo, Ohio, Tymara relocated to Las Vegas in 2011, where she became a fixture on the Las Vegas Strip and on stages worldwide. Her extraordinary voice and artistry led to an illustrious career as a backing vocalist for legendary performers, including Gladys Knight and Chaka Khan.

Eric Grant of the Legendary Ojays said, “Hearing her sing solo in a Las Vegas nightclub was a revelation; her vocal versatility left me in awe… "Tymara was an extraordinary woman and an incredible talent who brightened every room she entered."

In 2024, she lent her talents to the groundbreaking Wu-Tang Clan residency in Las Vegas, further showcasing her versatility and passion for music.

Tymara’s career highlights also included featured performances in Cirque du Soleil’s Kooza and MJ One. She collaborated with Marvin Winans on the track Eyes on You and contributed her song Love Smiles to the original motion picture soundtrack for All Between Us.

Her other noteworthy performances included roles in Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel the Concert, appearances at the Mayfair Supper Club and Myron’s at The Smith Center, and performances with David Perrico’s Pop Strings Orchestra. Most recently, she was developing a new musical project entitled “The Rocking Chair,” the story of a grandmother who grew up in slavery. Underscoring her lifelong commitment to enriching the music landscape.

Tymara’s mother said “she would want to be known for her gift and how she it impacted the lives of the people she performed”. Tymara’s family remembers her as a devoted wife, mother, loving sister, and cherished daughter whose passion and talent touched countless lives. They extend heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of support and condolences during this difficult time. Her husband shared is heart, “Tymara was my wife, my best friend, and the Songbyrd of my life — a voice that moved people, a heart that protected the unheard, and a love that reshaped my world forever. She was bold, brilliant, beautiful, and fearless in truth. Her voice reached the world, but her love reached me deeper. She was my everything — and she always will be.”
